The SportsGrid advisory board guides the strategic direction of company and helps inspire the innovators behind our products so they meet the demands for knowledge and leadership in the sporting industry.

Our advisory board members come from the top echelons of business and represent sectors as diverse as the government, law, sport & technology industries.

Among its roles, the board gives SportsGrid insight into the needs of external partners from industry, government and the community. Its members also act as advocates, ensuring the company’s messages resonate with industry.

Career opportunities 

John Lee

Chair

John Lee is Director of John Lee Consulting, providing strategic advice to ASX companies, government departments, and major sporting bodies.

With decades of leadership across sport, government, transport, and tourism, John brings unmatched experience in steering complex organisations through strategic change. His work has spanned senior public service roles—including Director-General of Transport for NSW and the Department of Premier & Cabinet—to CEO positions leading Australian Sailing, Sydney Roosters, and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

John’s passion lies in helping organisations operate at their best. Whether driving reforms in public transport funding, overseeing Olympic sailing success, or strengthening community sporting clubs, he thrives on building systems and strategies that enable people to perform at the highest level.

He holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Wollongong, has completed advanced leadership programs, and is a former President of the Wollongong University Union and member of the University Council.

John has served on the boards of Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (Queensland) and Zenergy Mindset & Wellbeing. He is a former Commissioner of the Australian Sports Commission and has contributed to the Advertising Standards Board and the Mary Mackillop Foundation.

 

James Curtis

Member

James is Chief Executive Officer of strategic advisory consultancy Element, part of SLR.

James is an experienced senior executive, board member and advisor across government, not-for-profit and community sectors. He previously held the role of Chief Executive Officer of Football West for 5 years, and was also the Executive Director – Community Development within the WA State Government and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Advisory Council. He is a current member of the University of Western Australia's Sports Advisory Board, and a Director of Richmond Wellbeing, who provide inclusive, community-based mental health and wellbeing support services across Western Australia.

 

Mary Konstantopoulos

Member

Mary is Manager of Policy Governance at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

Mary is an accomplished lawyer, and holds her current role with the Commonwealth Bank as Manager, Policy Governance. Mary is an advocate for women in sport, and is the founder of the media company "Ladies who...", which encourages women to get involved in conversations about sport through such spin-offs as "Ladies who League" and "Ladies who Legspin" (to name a few!). Mary writes regular articles for several major publications, including the Sydney Morning Herald and the Roar, and is also an ambassador for the Full Stop Foundation, who work to raise awareness, educate, and provide support for people affected by sexual, domestic or family violence. She is also a Board Member of Hockey Australia.
